Get in Touch

Russell County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm current custody, arrange a release, post bond, confirm charges, or retrieve official records. Please use the responsible public office below for the record or decision you need.

Reach the Right Records Office

Start with the office that created or holds the record. The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is the public, non-emergency law-enforcement contact, but the research found no verified Sheriff records unit or direct records line. For jail-held intake material, use SWVRJA FOIA. County-held material and later court information have their own routes.

SWVRJA’s FOIA page is the primary route for an existing authority-held booking or adult intake record. The county FOIA page concerns county-held material and is not a replacement for a jail authority’s intake file. The combined district court is the appropriate local court contact for later case information, not for a live regional-jail roster.

  • For a current regional-custody question, begin at the official SWVRJA current-inmates gateway; a live entry is not a complete arrest history.
  • For an existing jail-held booking or adult initial-intake record, request it from SWVRJA with a name and a narrow date range or known facility. The authority has not published a fixed booking-photo fee, so ask for an actual-cost estimate.
  • For a county-held record, use the county FOIA contact and identify the particular document sought. Virginia’s response and cost rules are set out in Virginia Code § 2.2-3704.
  • For the outcome after booking, use the Virginia case-information hub or contact the court. A charge at arrest does not establish the final disposition.
  • For state custody or supervision after a case reaches VADOC, use the Virginia Department of Corrections locator, which is separate from the regional-jail search.
  • For federal prison custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator; for qualifying immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither replaces the SWVRJA route for a Russell County booking.

The Russell County records guide explains the custody states and request sequence in more detail. An adult initial-intake photo has an official request route under Virginia Code § 2.2-3706, subject to its felony-investigation exception and other limits.
